Philadelphia’s Mayor Cherelle Parker, proposed a $6.29 billion budget for Fiscal Year 2025 (FY25). According to the Mayor, this budget is called “The One Philly Budget.” There are no new taxes added to the city’s budget and as compared to FY24 estimates, there will be increases in salary costs of $89.6 million. As noted in the budget briefing, “the proposed FY25 Operating Budget adds $143 million in new investments in the Mayor’s priority areas:  

  1. Public Safety: $34 million   
  2. Clean and Green: $36 million    
  3. Economic Opportunity: nearly $20 million   
  4. Housing: $16 million   
  5. Education: Additional support of $24 million   
  6. Core Support: $14 million “

In-person budget hearings will be held at Philadelphia City Council Chambers, Room 400 on the fourth floor of City Hall. It is important to note that if you are interested in making a public testimony you should call 215-686-3407 or email Budget.Hearings@phila.gov the day before the testimony by 3 pm. Speakers are also required to submit the following information:

  • Identify the number bill or resolution number or numbers that will be addressed.

The next two budget hearings with opportunities for public comment at City Hall will be on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, and Wednesday, May 1, 2024.
