Parklets extend the sidewalk, take back space from vehicles, and provide additional public space to pedestrians. Every year on the third Friday of September, Philadelphia joins an amazing international event called Park(ing) Day. Individuals, businesses, non-profits, and other organizations re-imagine parking spaces for people, not cars. The City has a process that anyone can use to apply for a permanent parklet, and we made a detailed infographic on how to apply for one in your neighborhood.
