On Sunday September 17th, Feet First Philly with Riverfront North Partnership led a walk from the Tacony neighborhood in Northeast Philadelphia to the Delaware River Waterfront Trail including a newly completed section of the K&T Trail.

Along the way the group discussed how to make better, safer, and more visible walking connections from the neighborhood to waterfront trails and parks. They talked about rails to trails, maintenance and short dumping, and the resiliency of nature. It was great weather for the group of seven walkers.

The walk group met at Tacony Regional Rail Station, where they were greeted by members of Costello Boxing Club who led the group on pre-walk stretches. The group then walked under I-95 and crossed State Road at Princeton Ave to the newest section of the K&T Trail. They walked under the Tacony Palmyra Bridge to Lardner’s Point Park and then returned to Tacony Regional Rail Station via Magee Ave.

The group had a great time and a wonderful discussion and hope to do a similar walk next year. This is the second year that Feet First Philly and Riverfront North have partnered on a walk.
