Original American Foundation is a current recipient of Feet First Philly’s Public Space Enhancement Mini-Grant Program, which provides funding of up to $2000 for community-led projects that make public space enjoyable and safer for pedestrians. Their project funded workshops to teach gardening skills to residents in Southwest Philadelphia.
Original American Foundation is an organization created by American Indians for the low-income BIPOC community of the city. They have a beautiful community garden where they grow organic produce ranging from potatoes and peppers to different berries and melons. This organization aims to help create and promote self-sustainability.

They hold garden workshops, teaching skills such as soil mixing, seeds/seedling planting, fruit tree planting, and nutrition. Arts and culture are important to them so they plant crops indigenous to the Americas, teach garden box building, and youth paint them with artistic flair. These workshops are intended for all walks of life no matter your age. The garden is located at 1837 S Allison St. Philadelphia, PA 19143.
Original American Foundation is currently in the process of starting new community programs and events at their garden and beyond. Everyone is welcome to visit their garden and attend their workshops. To learn more about this organization visit their →
