Could you go a week without driving? For nearly a third of people living in the United States – people with disabilities, young people, seniors, and people who can’t afford cars or gas – this is their every day.

This year, Week Without Driving takes place from Monday, September 30th through Sunday, October 6th. The Week Without Driving challenge was created so that those who have the option to drive can learn firsthand about the barriers and challenges that nondrivers face and work with nondrivers to create more accessible communities for all.

As an organization dedicated to improving the pedestrian environment, protecting the rights of pedestrians, and encouraging walking as a mode of transportation and for exercise and recreation, we see the Week Without Driving as a critical step toward recognizing and dismantling the barriers to mobility many face daily. We invite you to take this eye-opening experience. Embrace transit, walking, rolling, and biking, and explore how each trip counts towards building a more connected and equitable world.
