Open Streets: West Walnut is back in 2025 in Philadelphia! It has returned for four Sundays this spring, beginning April 6 and finishing on April 27, during which seven blocks are closed to vehicular traffic.

The seven-block stretch of streets closed to vehicles begins on 18th Street from Chestnut to Locust and Walnut Street from 15th to 19th. Street closures begin at 7 a.m. and end at 6 p.m., and events start at 10 a.m. and continue through 5 p.m.

This series of car-free street events is an effort to promote the Center City district’s local businesses, beginning last September and lasting for four Sundays. Various performers roam the blocks, and restaurants add additional outdoor seating.

These car-free street events showcase people-centered use of public space, support local businesses, and create community! Pedestrians can feel safe enjoying the performances, visiting businesses and restaurants, and getting outside.
