Park(ing) Day is an annual event, held globally on the third Friday of September. Park(ing) Day promotes awareness for public space, especially in urban areas, and how it can be more pedestrian friendly. Many cities are designed to prioritize cars over people, but Park(ing) Day allows cities to reimagine public spaces, like parking spots.

This year’s Park(ing) Day celebration is back in the physical realm, so metered parking spaces will be transformed into temporary public parks by architects, artists, advocates, community groups, residents, and nonprofit organizations.
