Our very first Virtual Scavenger Hunt is underway at four amazing Philly parks this month:
- Cobbs Creek Park – Over four miles of paved and unpaved trails in West Philly, home to an environmental center, playgrounds, and much more.
- FDR Park – South Philly’s largest park with historic buildings and a brand new section of woods and meadows for you to explore.
- Grays Ferry Crescent Park – Located just south of Center City, a skate park, fishing piers, paved trails, and much more can be found in this park in a South Philadelphia neighborhood along the Schuylkill River.
- Tacony Creek Park – Historic bridges, colorful murals, and a paved trail full of exciting landmarks in North Philadelphia.
This new era of social distancing and quarantine means you may not get outside as much as you would like, and our group walk events have been put on hold this year. Spending time outdoors increases our mental and physical well-being, so make the most of your visits to parks and trails. Our virtual scavenger hunt is a fun way for you to safely experience the benefits of being outside, gives you something interesting to do while you are at your favorite parks, and offers the chance to win great prizes. Here’s how to get started.
Download our BINGO cards, explore the parks, find clues, and send us photos of landmarks that complete “BINGO” on either social media or via email. Every submission will earn prizes including reusable straws, Clif Bars, and sunglasses. At the end of the month, we will share a grand prize drawing on our social media channels, where we award lucky participants with top prizes including Hydro Flask backpacks. As part of the November winners announcement, we explored each park that was involved in the scavenger hunt with short videos. This was a special chance to hear from park representatives and learn about amenities, resources, and how to get involved with park groups. Watch the video here.
